自然からいただいた植物の色を、古い足踏み織り機で織り上げ、
一枚一枚に、季節の景色や記憶を込めてつくっています。
「包む」だけでなく、「敷く」「飾る」「巻く」など、使い方は自由自在。
現代の暮らしにそっと寄り添う、布のある時間をお楽しみください。
yamamayuの風呂敷は、手織りならではのしっかりとした厚みと風合いを持ち、
テーブルセンターやカバー、ストール、ピクニックシート、バッグのようにも使える布です。
At yamamayu, our furoshiki are not just wrapping cloths — they are artful textiles created from hand-spun yarns, dyed with wild plants and woven on traditional foot looms.
They carry the breath of the seasons and stories of the land, ready to wrap, lay, or adorn your everyday moments.
織機にも、物語があります。
この布は、母・中川原惠子が結婚の際に、父から贈られた織機で織られました。
約50年前の貴重な八王子製の織機で、130cm幅の布が織れる特別な仕様。
This fabric was woven on a special handloom gifted from my father to my mother as a wedding present.
With the ability to weave cloth up to 130cm wide, it is one of our studio’s treasures.
植物の色と、手紡ぎの糸と。
染料には、よもぎ・ローズマリー・くるみ・藍・パオブラジル・キハダ・玉ねぎの皮など
草木の個性豊かな色を引き出しました。
緯糸には、ところどころに手紡ぎの綿糸を織り交ぜて、表情豊かに。
Dyed with natural plants such as mugwort, rosemary, walnut, indigo, sappanwood, Amur cork, and onion skins, each piece carries the soul of the seasons.
Hand-spun cotton threads are woven in, giving depth and warmth to the textile.
特別な空間のために ― 光来coraiさまへ
この風呂敷シリーズは、鹿児島県・霧島神宮駅舎内「光来corai（慈慈）」さまからのご依頼により制作されました。
自然と調和する空間のために、染料・素材・織りにこだわり、一枚一枚丁寧に仕上げた布たちです。ぜひ現地にて、直接お手にとってご覧ください。
This furoshiki collection was specially commissioned by “corai” (Jiji), located inside Kirishima Jingu Station in Kagoshima, Japan.
Designed to blend seamlessly with nature-inspired interiors, these pieces are imbued with care and craftsmanship.

風呂敷の文化と再発見
風呂敷の起源は、奈良時代の寺院や貴族社会にさかのぼります。衣を包み、宝物を包み、やがて庶民の間では入浴時に衣類を包んだ「風呂敷」として定着しました。
江戸時代には日常の持ち運びや贈答品の包みとしても使われ、布一枚が道具であり、礼であり、美意識の象徴でもありました。
現代では、使い捨て文化や包装資材に取って代わられていましたが、最近ではサステナブルな暮らしの象徴として、「繰り返し使える、美しい道具」として見直されています。
yamamayuでは、この古くて新しい「風呂敷」を、植物の色と手織りの布で再構築。日常にそっと寄り添う、現代のマルチクロスとして提案しています。
Furoshiki has existed for over a thousand years — once used to wrap kimono, treasures, and gifts. Today, it is rediscovered as a sustainable and versatile textile, blending beauty and utility in everyday life.

Furoshiki for a Minimal Life
たとえば本とスマートフォンを包んで、 公園へ、あるいは図書館へ出かける。公園ではそれを敷いて座り、図書館では膝にかけてひと息つく。敷物は、はたけばまた元通り。 風が冷たければ、肩にかける。また一つひとつ包みなおして、小さな荷物とともに、家に帰る。そんなふうに、日々をともにする一枚。
Wrap your book and phone, and take a walk to the park—or maybe to the library. At the park, spread it out and sit on it. At the library, drape it over your knees for warmth. Dust it off when you’re done. If the breeze gets cold, wear it over your shoulders. Then wrap your things once again, and return home with just a light bundle in hand. This is a cloth that lives your day with you.
