先日、八王子のアトリエではバラ染めと同時進行で、染織教室を開催しました。
今回ご参加のお二人の、繭の蛹出しから始まったお教室の最終回でした。
1年ほど前に繭から蛹を取り出し、真綿づくりからスタート。
そこから植物染めを行い、経糸と緯糸用の糸を紡ぎ、木枠で整経をして、卓上の織機へ。
7回ほど通っていただき、ご希望の チョーカー が完成しました。
ひとつの作品に込められる時間
糸を紡ぐときの手の感触、整経で糸が並んでいくリズム、織り進めるときの布の手ざわり。
手仕事は、ひとつひとつの工程には時間がかかってしまうけれども、その時のご自分の気持ちにふれながらの大切な時間になります。完成した作品は「ただのアクセサリー」以上のものに。
今回仕上がったチョーカーは、参加された方の気持ちが映し出された、まさに世界にひとつだけの作品になりました。
心と体をととのえるランチ
お昼には、麹を使った薬膳風ランチをご用意。
心も体もあたたまる食事をはさみながら、参加者の方々の地元の話で盛り上がりました。
世代もさまざまな人が集う食事の時間もまた、教室の大切な一部です。

サイトのおすすめにでてきて参加していただきました。広告などはだしてないのでなかなか初めての方がネット状で山まゆの里染織工房に巡り会うことは難しいようにおもうのですが、こうしてつながることができたご縁に感謝です。

At our Hachioji atelier, alongside a rose-dyeing session, we held a dyeing and weaving class. This was the final session for two guests who had begun their journey with us by carefully removing the pupae from the silkworm cocoons.
About a year ago, they began by preparing silk floss from cocoons. They then dyed the silk floss with plants, spun yarn for warp and weft, wound it on a frame, and finally set it onto a tabletop loom. After about seven visits, their long-awaited choker necklace was completed.
The Time Woven into a Single Piece
The touch of silk floss while spinning, the rhythm of yarns lining up on the frame, the feel of the floss growing on the loom— Each step takes time, but it is also a moment to connect with one’s own feelings. The finished work becomes something far more meaningful than “just an accessory.”
The choker completed this time truly reflects the heart of its maker—an absolutely one-of-a-kind piece.
A Nourishing Lunch for Body and Mind
For lunch, we served a wholesome, koji-based medicinal-style meal. As everyone shared stories from their hometowns, both hearts and bodies were warmed. This shared mealtime across generations is also a cherished part of the class experience.
Upcoming Workshop
This Saturday, we will host another dyeing and weaving workshop at our studio. Two spots are still available. From removing pupae from cocoons, to spinning silk floss into yarn, to dyeing with plants and weaving— You can experience the full process in a small, relaxed group. Beginners are warmly welcome.
