絹の色を組む｜八王子でつくる小さな壁掛け ワークショップのご案内
絹と織物の町・八王子で、
草木で染めた絹の色を選び、小さな壁掛けをつくる一日です。
大きな作品を完成させるためではなく、
色の重なりや素材の違いに触れながら、
小さな中に布の美しさを見つけていくことに、価値を置いています。
経糸には綿を、緯糸には絹と絹真綿を用い、
木枠の上で少しずつ布の表情を組み立てていきます。
この会について
この会は、素材が布へ向かう流れをたどる山梨のワークショップとは異なり、
すでにある糸と色から、小さな布の表情を立ち上げていく会です。
草木で染めた絹の糸、絹真綿のやわらかさ、
そして木枠の中に生まれる余白や重なりを見つめながら、
15〜20cmほどの小さな壁掛けへと仕上げていきます。
少人数で行うため、
一つひとつの色や素材の違いを、あわただしく進めることなく感じていただけます。
体験内容
前半
- 八王子と絹・織物の小さなお話
- 草木で染めた絹糸、絹真綿の素材を見る
- 色の組み合わせを選ぶ
- 木枠織りの準備をする

- 手作りの薬膳風ランチ
- 昼食・休憩
後半
- 木枠を使って小さな壁掛けを織る
- 色や素材の重なりを整えながら仕上げる
- 完成した作品を持ち帰る
持ち帰るもの
この会で大切にしているのは、
上手に作ることよりも、色と素材の関係を自分の手で組み立てていくことです。
持ち帰るのは、
15〜20cmほどの小さな壁掛けです。
飾ることのできる、小さな布の作品としてお持ち帰りいただけます。

小さな布の表情を少しずつ立ち上げていく一日になればと思います。
Composing Silk Colors | A Small Wall Hanging in Hachioji
In Hachioji, a town with a long history of silk and textiles,
this workshop invites you to compose colors of plant-dyed silk and create a small wall hanging.
Rather than making a large finished piece,
the focus is on discovering the beauty of cloth through color, texture, and composition in a small format.
Using cotton for the warp and silk and silk mawata for the weft,
you will slowly build the expression of the cloth on a small wooden frame.
About This Gathering
Unlike the Yamanashi workshop, which follows the process from cocoon toward cloth,
this gathering begins with prepared threads and colors, and focuses on composing a small textile piece.
Working with plant-dyed silk thread, the softness of silk mawata,
and the layers and open spaces that appear within the wooden frame,
you will create a small wall hanging of approximately 15–20 cm.
Because the workshop is held in a small group,
you can take time to notice the differences between each color and material without haste.
What You Will Experience
Morning
- A short introduction to Hachioji and its silk and textile history
- Observe plant-dyed silk threads and silk mawata
- Choose your color combinations
- Prepare the frame loom
Lunch
- A light handmade meal inspired by medicinal herbs
- Lunch and break
Afternoon
- Weave a small wall hanging using a frame loom
- Adjust the layering of colors and materials as you finish the piece
- Take home your completed work
What You Will Take Home
What matters in this gathering is not making something neatly or perfectly,
but building a relationship between color and material with your own hands.
You will take home a small woven wall hanging,
approximately 15–20 cm in size.
It is a small textile work that you can take home and display.
