繭から布へ｜山梨の工房で過ごす小さな時間
完成したものを作って終わる体験ではなく、
布が生まれる時間そのものに触れる一日です。
「うまく作れるか」ではなく、
素材がどのように布へ向かっていくのかを知ることに、価値を置いています。
山梨の山あいにある工房で、
繭、真綿、糸、染め、織りへとつながる流れを、
少人数で静かにたどっていただく会です。
この会について
この会は、完成品づくりを目的にした体験ではありません。
繭に触れ、真綿に触れ、糸を引き、織りへ向かう流れをたどりながら、
布が生まれるまでの時間を受け取るための小さな会です。
少人数で行うため、
一つひとつの素材や工程を、あわただしく進めるのではなく、静かに感じていただけます。
体験内容
前半
- 工房と素材の紹介
- 家蚕・天蚕・野蚕の繭の違いを見る
- 絹真綿に触れる
- 真綿から糸を引く、小さな糸づくり体験
昼
- 手作りの薬膳風軽食
- 工房や山の時間を味わう休憩
後半
- あらかじめ草木で染めた絹真綿の手紡ぎ糸に触れる
- 手織り機で小さな織りのタペストリーを織る
- 真綿の色見本ボックスを添えて持ち帰る
持ち帰るもの
この会で大切にしているのは、
立派な完成品を作ることではありません。
持ち帰るのは、
その日に織った小さなタペストリーと、真綿の色見本ボックスです。
それは作品というよりも、
布が生まれる時間に触れた記憶を持ち帰るための、小さな布です。

From Cocoon to Cloth | A Quiet Day at the Yamanashi Studio
This is not a workshop simply to make and take home a finished object.
It is a quiet day to experience the time through which cloth comes into being.
Rather than asking whether you can make something well,
we place value on learning how materials become cloth.
At our mountain studio in Yamanashi,
you will gently follow the process from cocoon to mawata, thread, dyeing, and weaving in a small group.
About This Gathering
This is not a workshop centered on producing a finished object.
It is a small gathering to touch cocoons, feel mawata, draw out thread, and follow the path toward weaving, so that you may receive the time through which cloth is born.
Because we work in a small group,
each material and process can be experienced quietly, without haste.
What You Will Experience
Morning
- Introduction to the studio and its materials
- Observe the differences among domestic silkworm, Tensan, and wild silkworm cocoons
- Touch silk mawata
- A small experience of drawing thread from mawata
Lunch
- A light handmade meal inspired by medicinal herbs
- A quiet break to take in the studio and the mountain surroundings
Afternoon
- Encounter handspun silk mawata thread, pre-dyed with botanical colors
- Weave a small tapestry on the handloom
- Take home your work with a box of mawata color samples
What You Will Take Home
What matters in this gathering is not producing an impressive finished piece.
You will take home the small tapestry you weave that day and a box of mawata color samples.
They are less a finished product than small fragments for carrying home the memory of cloth.
