茜影 | Akane-kage

赤と黒が重なり、静かに息づくように揺らぐ絹からみ織りのストールです。
鮮烈ではなく、深く穏やかに漂う赤。その陰影の奥に、やわらかな光が宿ります。

黒は光を吸い込み、赤は内に熱を抱く色。
《茜影》は、その二つの気配が交わるところに生まれる、動と静のある赤と黒をたどった一点です。

背景

これまでの作品では、緯糸に正絹糸・絹強撚糸・手紡ぎ真綿糸を用いてきましたが、《茜影》には新たな試みとして、1000個の繭から引いた糸も織り込みました。一本でも輝く糸が、千本重なることで生まれる深い光沢を、抑えすぎず、主張させすぎず、慎重に調えています。

さらに、今年工房で育てた小石丸の繭から生まれた、細く静かな光を放つ糸も用いました。やさしさをもつ糸と、強靭な糸が交わることで、この布は「やさしさ」と「強さ」の両方を宿しています。

からみ織りは、糸の間に空気が通ることで光を含み、巻いたときに透けや奥行きを生む織りです。《茜影》では、その構造の中で赤と黒の存在が静かに揺れ、見るたびに異なる表情を残します。

草木染めの布は、光や摩擦によって少しずつ変化します。その変化も含めて、布は時間の中で育っていきます。中性洗剤での単独手洗い、陰干しをおすすめします。気になることがあればご相談ください。

Akane-kage

A silk leno-weave stole in which red and black drift quietly together. The red here is not fiery, but deep and calm, holding a soft light within its shadow.

Created through our 2025 exploration of red and black, this work traces the meeting point of movement and stillness. Light passes through the open weave, and the balance between the two colors shifts gently with each angle.

For this work, we brought together silk filament yarn, high-twist silk, hand-spun mawata silk, and threads drawn from 1,000 cocoons. We also used silk from Koishimaru cocoons raised in our studio—fine, gentle, and quietly luminous. Their meeting gives the textile both softness and strength.

Leno weaving allows air and light to pass between threads, creating transparency, depth, and a gentle grip when worn. As with naturally dyed textiles, subtle changes may appear over time with light and friction; this is part of the life of the cloth.
