霞影 | Ka-Ei

黒とグレーの構造の中に、白が静かに光をひらく一点です。
《霞影》は、影そのものではなく、遠くの景色が白灰色にかすんで見えるような、幻想的な気配をたどった布です。

からみ織りの空気を含む組織に、黒・グレー・白の緯糸が重なり、線の層がゆっくりと浮かび上がります。
近づくと糸の響き合いが見え、離れると光がすっと透ける——その距離感ごと、表情が変わります。

背景

経糸は黒とグレー。緯糸には、正絹糸、絹強撚糸、太さの異なる手紡ぎ真綿糸に加え、黒と白に1000個の繭から引いた糸を織り込みました。密度の奥に芯の強さを加えながら、布全体は明るさへひらくように構成しています。

白には、繭の外側から生まれるきびそ糸も用いました。やわらかな光沢とは別の、少しだけ荒さを含んだ白に、黒の線が走ることで、布の中に静かな輪郭が立ち上がります。

からみ織りは、糸の間に空気が通ることで光を含み、透けや奥行きを生む織りです。《霞影》では、その構造の中で白が静かにひらき、見る距離や光の角度によって、景色のような表情がゆっくりと変わります。

Ka-Ei

Within a structure of black and gray, white quietly opens into light. “Ka-Ei” is inspired not by shadow itself, but by the hazy, white-gray atmosphere of distant scenery.

In the airy structure of leno weave, layers of black, gray, and white rise softly to the surface. Up close, the yarns speak to one another; from a distance, light slips through and the expression changes with your gaze.

The warp is silk in black and gray. The weft brings together silk yarn, high-twist silk, hand-spun mawata silk in several thicknesses, kibiso silk in white, and threads drawn from 1,000 cocoons in both white and black. These differences in origin become the depth and contour of the cloth itself.

Kibiso, taken from the outermost layer of the cocoon, adds a slightly raw white distinct from a smooth sheen. As black lines move across it, the work opens not into darkness, but toward light.
