Minimal compositions with layered colors and textures.

Signature is a series shaped through layered dyeing, weaving, and the quiet depth created by yarn dyed before and after weaving. It was born as a standard line that embodies yamamayu’s color design, easy to wear in daily life and on quieter special days.

Layered Color

Several dyes are layered, and pre-dyeing, after-dyeing, and weaving are combined to create a depth that cannot be achieved with a single color alone.

Minimal Making

Each piece begins from an image held at a particular moment, then is quietly shaped through careful combinations of color and material.

Time of Handwork

Using pure silk and hand-spun yarn, every step from dyeing and weaving to finishing is carried out in our studio.

Two Forms of Signature

Signature has two forms: its regular works, and special editions shown at ART COLLECTION, Matsuzakaya Nagoya.

The regular works form the core of the series, using pure silk, high-twist silk, and hand-spun mawata silk in different thicknesses. While the exact colorway is never repeated, the same design language continues through the series, and these works can be seen at regular exhibitions and in our online shop.

Some works shown at ART COLLECTION were created as special editions using exceptional materials such as Koishimaru silk or threads drawn from 1,000 cocoons. These pieces extend the Signature design language one step further through material itself.

Regular Signature works are currently available through our online shop and can also be seen at our regular exhibitions.

Special editions were presented at ART COLLECTION, Matsuzakaya Nagoya, and differ in part from the regular series in materials and specification. Opportunities for viewing and introduction vary by piece.

New works and their making are shared through Studio Journal. Repair and re-dye consultation is also available.
