Sapporo Mitsukoshi | Exhibition of Dyed, Woven, and Handspun Textiles
Cloth Born from Cocoons, Holding Light and Air
From cocoons nurtured by the leaves of trees, to silk floss, thread, and cloth.
Building on more than 130 years of inherited textile craftsmanship, we create cloth that carries air and gently holds the light.
The colors drawn from each season and material are quietly layered, allowing the distinctive character of every cocoon and thread to emerge within each piece.
Alive with this small cycle of nature and handwork, the cloth gradually becomes more deeply your own with use.
This year marks our 24th exhibition at Sapporo Mitsukoshi.
We warmly invite you to experience these textiles in person and feel the qualities of the silk in your hands.
- Dates: August 26–31, 2026
- Hours: Until 6:00 p.m. daily; closing at 4:00 p.m. on the final day
- Venue: Mitsukoshi Gallery, 9F, Sapporo Mitsukoshi Main Building
- In the gallery: Tetsuji and Keiko Nakagawara will be present throughout the exhibition

Workshops | Hachioji and Yamanashi Ateliers
We offer small-group workshops where participants can experience dyeing and weaving while engaging with cocoons, silk floss, thread, color, and cloth.
