This will be our second exhibition at Sakurano Department Store Aomori Main Store.
We look forward to sharing textiles made through the quiet process from cocoon to thread, and from thread to cloth.

Introductory Mawata Mini Workshop|Hachioji Atelier

This small introductory workshop includes an explanation of mawata silk floss, a hands-on thread-spinning experience, and the making of a small thread sample.

Next session: Sunday, June 14, 2026, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
This is a gentle workshop for those who are touching mawata for the first time, offering a short experience of how silk fibers begin their journey toward thread.

Workshop|Yamanashi Atelier

Next session: June 19 and 20, 2026
This workshop follows the process from cocoon to mawata, thread, dyeing, and weaving. Participants will take home a small tapestry and a mawata color sample box.

In this workshop, participants choose plant-dyed mawata silk colors and create a small wall hanging using a simple wooden frame loom.
