〖Workshop〗Composing Silk Mawata Colors | A Small Wall Hanging in Hachioji

→ 日本語で読む

In Hachioji, a town with a long connection to silk and weaving,
this is a day for choosing naturally dyed silk colors and making a small wall hanging.

This gathering is a quiet time for noticing layers of color,
differences in texture, and the beauty held within a small piece of cloth.

Using cotton for the warp and silk together with silk mawata for the weft,
we slowly build the expression of the cloth on a small frame.

About This Gathering

In this gathering, we work with threads and colors that are already prepared,
and slowly bring out the expression of a small piece of cloth.

While looking closely at naturally dyed silk threads, the softness of silk mawata,
and the quiet spaces and layers that appear within the frame,
we shape a small wall hanging of about 15 to 20 cm.

Because the group is small, you can take time
to notice each color and each material at an unhurried pace.
