Furoshiki — a textile for everyday life.
More than wrapping cloth, it can be laid, draped, carried, and lived with quietly.
yamamayu’s furoshiki is not only a cloth for wrapping.
Plant-dyed and woven on a traditional foot loom, it is made to live gently in daily life.

Versatile by Nature
Wrap, lay, cover, display, or drape.
It moves easily through many scenes of daily life.

Handwoven Weight and Texture
Its handwoven structure gives it presence and substance, making it equally suited to table use or everyday covering.

Colored by Plants
Mugwort, indigo, walnut, kihada, and other plants bring quiet variation and depth to each piece.
Living with Furoshiki
A single textile can move through the day as a picnic cloth, table textile, shoulder wrap, or something to carry.

Loom & Color
These textiles are woven on a loom given to Keiko Nakagawara by her father at the time of her marriage. It is a special loom, able to weave widths up to 130 cm, and remains one of the treasures of the studio.
Mugwort, rosemary, walnut, indigo, sappanwood, kihada, and onion skin are among the plants used for color, with hand-spun cotton yarn added for warmth and character.
Some of the series were also created on commission for Corai at Kirishima-Jingu Station in Kagoshima.
