Furoshiki

Furoshiki — a textile for everyday life.
More than wrapping cloth, it can be laid, draped, carried, and lived with quietly.

yamamayu’s furoshiki is not only a cloth for wrapping.
Plant-dyed and woven on a traditional foot loom, it is made to live gently in daily life.

Loom & Color

These textiles are woven on a loom given to Keiko Nakagawara by her father at the time of her marriage. It is a special loom, able to weave widths up to 130 cm, and remains one of the treasures of the studio.

Mugwort, rosemary, walnut, indigo, sappanwood, kihada, and onion skin are among the plants used for color, with hand-spun cotton yarn added for warmth and character.

Some of the series were also created on commission for Corai at Kirishima-Jingu Station in Kagoshima.
