整経した820本の絹糸を前の経糸と結び、少しずつ織機の中へ送ります。ブラシで糸を梳かし、筬や綜絖を通る様子を確かめながら、焦らず時間をかけて進める作業です。

古い糸と新しい糸を結びながら、次の布へ。
今では使わなくなった道具や、かつてこの仕事を担っていた人たちの記憶も、工房に残っています。

Tying old threads to new, we move toward the next cloth.
The workshop still holds traces of tools no longer used, and of the people who once carried out this work.

声で数え、手で張りを感じ、目で糸を見て、耳で機械の音を聞く。
820本の経糸を、いくつもの感覚を使いながら整えていきます。
